Cheryll, speaking of AZ...this video was made by folks in that beautiful state. There is a farmer that is talking about what bridget is addressing in her comment - the soil. It's got to be amended.

hello sister before trying to grow anything if you are growing in the ground you need to enrich the soil with compost, peat manuare ash anything to break it up otherwise you could try raised beds using the same. or use containers or gro bags for short root plants potatoes, tomatoes salad veg squash peppers etc.

I live in Arizona and it is very hard just to get a plant to grow. The Earth soil is so bad. Flowers go and I had a Watermelon patch but took up my yard.
What would you do?

Speaking of Young People.....You know how different social Ning networks are promoted on your Ning Home page? Well, this one came up a week or so ago and I think it's great! It was so refreshing and encouraging and hopeful to see these young people taking the reins and moving forward. I highly recommend that you pay them a visit and see what they're up to. And, if you do go there, be sure to check out their collection of videos. These young folks are aware! Here's the link:

I was delighted to see this group inside the Coming Together community!

My wife, Joy, founded Mother Earth's Community Garden (MECG - pronounced Meg) here in Fort Smith, AR back in 04'. And although Joy has refocused her attention to advancing her art career, I continue to be very active in MECG and the garden is thriving. Indeed, urban agriculture is quickly becoming my passion.

You know the old adage that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach? Well, I'm of the mind that the way to enlightening that part of the population that is still in a deep slumber might just be through their stomach via first reconnecting them to food and the soil.

I look forward to getting to know you bridget as well as each of the other members of the group.

Finally, I want to invite you all to stop by MECG's ning site. And, by all means, if you are so inclined please join the group. You will be most welcome! Even though the network formed up around a community garden its interests and sphere of influence extend well beyound.

Great Friends For Life

I am very Lucky to know Shade-Law who taught me everything I know about running a site. And she gave me the Honor of being her admin and always keeps me in her Loving Prayer. She is a Wonderful Person that is the type to help people like I do. She has shared her Love with me and we became friends and she showed me how to share love with other people. And has helped me through some really tough times.

To My Friend Jodie,
